The comparison article was insightful. Since technology is consistently 'new', the information provided assisted me in developing a more informed opinion of what I need from software.

While ergonomics might not be the most important aspect of data analysis, user friendly software is essential. If I do not feel comfortable navigating around a program, I am not inclined to use it. Things to consider are: How does the program actually 'look'? Will it work on Windows or will it feel like a Mac?

Aesthetics aside, the search option is also critical. Will the software allow me to develop queries that I want? can I combine searches? Will it be precise?

Speed and stability were also presented as software elements to consider. To me, the stability of a program far out weighs its' speed.
